This game is played with an ante which is one fifth of bet size of low limit. Before the hand begins every player should ante up. This ante is not counted in later stages, it just occurs before the game. Once the game starts after the first deal each player has one card. At this movement player who has the lowest card should “bring in”. That is the lowest card holding player should place half of his low limited bet size in pot. If more than one player shares the lowest card then the person who is left to the dealer should bring in. Game counts this bet as the first bet of the player so that none of the players raise the amount. In this stage there is no necessity for a player to place extra money in the pot for seeing next card.
This game consists of 5 betting rounds. In this game of seven cards all bets of players and their raises should be equal to their own limit or to high limit bet size depending on the round being played. A player who plays in first two rounds should place his make his raises and bets equal to the size of low limit bet. Players playing in next rounds like 3, 4, 5 should place their bets equal to the size of high limit bet. A simple example would be of good use to understand this strategy. For example if a player is playing 3/6 seven card stud then all his bets in the first two rounds will be in multiples of $3 and all his bets in last rounds will be multiples of 6 dollars. Each player is allowed to raise $3 maximum in each round.
In seven card stud the game is divided into streets, with each street following a specific rule. In the
Here in the last round the winner is declared, in few cases all the 8 players will have a tie. At that movement instead of giving cards to player’s one single card is placed at the centre of table with its face up. This card will help players in making their best 5 card hand.
In the last round i.e. showdown players who have not folded in the 8 round will show their hands. Player who bets last should show his hand first. When the game proceeds in clock wise direction players can show their hands or they can muck their hands. At times players muck their hands because of fewer chances in winning the pot. They don’t like showing their hands and get fooled. Most of the poker rooms offer an option of automatic mucking of those players who loose their hands, so that opponents won’t know their moves.
One of the greatest debates that has stemmed from the online poker era is of course whether or not winning at poker requires skill or just lots of luck. Many people feel online poker rooms are actually rigged to set up hands that encourage large pots so that they can take a larger rake, meaning that neither skill nor luck comes into play. However for this article we will put this thought process aside, as I have personally never seen any evidence of it and I have been playing online poker for nearly ten years and at close to twenty game operators.
Now that we got that out of the way, what exactly does it take to win at poker; skill or luck? Well I can personally say I have been in the midst of this heated debate at several online poker rooms, and no matter how much I try to convince people, they just do not believe my point of view. So, I have written this article in hopes of reaching out to these people and explaining that luck truly has little to do with being a good poker player, and a whole lot to do with being a skilful poker player.
Believe it or not there is actually a lot to know in order to be a good poker player. Call what you want, theory, science, genius, it doesn’t really matter, but being a good poker player requires it. While anyone can play a game of poker and win some money, or enter a poker tournament and win a million dollars, unless they know that strategies involved with being a good poker player they relying on old lady luck to bring them their winnings. Of course knowing these strategies does not mean you will always come out on top, or even always win money, it does mean that in the long run you will be able to make playing poker a profitable endeavour.
Unlike most sports (yes, poker is now considered a sport by many), the skills required to be a professional poker player do have to be supernatural, they can in fact be learned by anybody willing to put the leg work in and actually learn and practice them. So what exactly are these skills and strategies I speak of? There have actually been many, and I mean many, books and DVD series created to try and teach people these theories. That being said it would impossible to give you that much information in such a brief article, however I will gladly give you a very useful pointer so that you will no longer have to depend wholly on luck to win money at poker.
The largest, most important, and hardest to master skill of being a good poker player is patience. If learned and used patience can your absolute best friend at the poker table, if ignored patience will be your worst enemy at the poker table. What exactly does that mean? Well, a lot of people who play poker today have learned how to play from watching poker on TV. Here we see hand after hand of massive pots being played one right after the other. In reality, there are likely ten to fifteen hands played in between the ones we see where everyone folded to the person in the big blind position of to the person who raised the pot. We do not see these because they are quite boring and would make for terrible television. The result however, is viewers watching and thinking they are seeing every hand.
In reality, a good and skilled poker player folds 80-90% of their hands even before seeing the flop. They do this knowing that they could luck out and make a hand with the cards from the flop, turn, and river, but also knowing that for the most part if they play the hand they will lose money on it. Instead, skilled poker players usually will only play pocket pairs, ace-king, ace-queen, or an ace that is with another card from its suit giving them the opportunity to make an ace high flush.
There are of course exceptions to every rule, and this one is no different. When you are down only two or three players at a table then you can expand the amount of starting hands you are willing to play. The same is true if you are in positioned in one of the blinds locations and can simply check your way into seeing the flop, or continue into the hand by upping your small blind to the amount of the big blind. But for the most part, a skilled poker player will stick to playing these hands, and if they do waiver, you can rest assured they have a very good reason to be doing so.
I think I was only seven or eight years old when I started to gamble. The first game I tried to play was the roulette. I could not count that well when I was young, so I started with a game where I did not have to count. I was really lucky when I played the roulette. After some years I started to play Black Jack. I played with my grandfather. We were equally good at this game. My grandfather loved it when I visited him to play cards. He always kept his deck of cards on the living room table. He waited for me to come and visit him after school. He was a very kind man and he was so lonely. My grandmother died when he was only forty-one years old and he had no company in the days. We gambled some, me and my grandfather, but only small sums. I had not such a big allowance. When I grew older we started to play poker as well. This is a game that is harder to learn. My grandfather was a fantastic teacher. He knew a lot of how to play poker. He loved Texas Hold’em the most and he thought me a lot about the game. I think that is why I am so interested in that kind of poker.
To play Texas Hold’em is not easy. The rules are not that difficult to learn, but it takes quite a while to learn to play strategic. I have studied this game for many months now and soon I will start to play holdem at the casinos. I started by reading a lot of poker books. There are some that are really good and educating for people that wants to learn about poker and Texas Hold’em. If you want to read a good poker book so look for one on the Internet. It is easy to find a good book. I also started the studying by looking at films. It is easier to see a film than to read a book, but I think a book is more educating. But I found some films that were really nice. Instead of watching television in the evenings it can also be relaxing to see a good film about poker. I am especially interested in films and books about Texas Hold’em. I think that I have studied enough now. I will start to play poker for free
If I do want to play poker and try to win money at the casinos I have to learn about the game. One person I have learnt a lot from is Phil Hellmuth. He is an amazing poker player. He has a very nice strategy when he plays poker. I have studied his gambling skills a lot in order to be as successful as he is.
Phil was born in Madison, Wisconsin and he started to play when he was a young boy. He managed to gain so much money that he stopped studying at the university and became professional. I want to do that as well. When Phil Hellmuth was only twenty-four years old he became the youngest player ever to win the World Series of Pokers. He is really amazing, don’t you think? I have heard that he has won as much as seven million dollars. That is a lot of money. I could really use that kind of money. I must try to study hard in poker books and watch poker films so that I can be a professional poker player. It would be nice to be able to earn the living by gambling at Internet casinos. I am so fed up with my work. I hate to wake up at six o’clock in the morning. I want to sleep in the morning and be up at nights instead. I must really try hard to become as brilliant at poker playing as Phil Hellmuth.
I usually play Black Jack when I visit an Internet Casino because it is so very easy to play. I learnt it really quickly and started to play immediately. At first I was lucky and I won some money. The game is about to count cards and never get more then twenty-one points. I gamble against the dealer and I must have more money than him in order to win. The first night I visited the casino I got 19 points and the dealer got only 18 points. So I won. The next round I was very lucky and got 20 points. I think the dealer became a bit worried because he did not stop when he should so he drew another card when he already had 16 points. Lucky for me; he got a knight and lost big time! After the I have never won anymore so now I am going to start to play Texas Hold’em instead. Maybe I will be more fortunate in playing poker. But I must study hard because it is not easy to play Texas Hold’em. It is not so easy as playing Black Jack.
